Sometimes it’s quicker and safer to get those lateralized disks.

While the anatomy may change the approach is essentially the same regardless of which level of the spine you are treating.

What do you do when the adjacent disk herniates on the opposite side…?

This one is a little trickier. But once you know the landmarks, L7 will breathe a sigh of relief.

The patients get smaller, our hands stay the same size. Some tips to make this easier and safer. Several different techniques to adapt to your patient.

The approach is half the battle. Decompression often involves “chunneling”. It’s a very helpful technique to safely decompress laterally . Consider Pedicle Screws in Level III.

The approach is easier but the technique is a little trickier. Multiple techniques are available. Screws and PMMA or plates.

Once you know the principles, it’s a matter of applying them to any location.
